Uhuru

Uhuru

Eyebrows were raised at last years Rhythmtree when we programmed unknown electronic duo Uhuru to play in our Didg Cafe. Not the “normal” Rhythmtree type of thing you might think but by the end of their rapturously received set, with everyone baying for more, there was no doubt that this was one act we’d definitely be inviting back.

The Southampton based duo generate smooth synth sounds, heavy bass lines and dramatic drops, layered with catchy vocal melodies & hook lines that blend together to deliver a dance-set with real power and punch.

UHURU (pronounced oo-hoo-roo) is a Swahili word meaning freedom and although it may seem a strange choice for a UK electronic act it actually makes perfect sense when you hear just how expressive and expansive their music is and take into account singer/songwriter Connor Daniel’s Kenyan family roots.
