The Soul Professor’s collection of 7” funk 45's date back to the early 60’s and stretch forward and outwards through the decades encompassing soul, reggae and the many musical worlds beyond.
He started DJing way back when at various notorious West Country nightspots (including, truth be told, a couple of strip clubs which were the only places with a late drinks licence) before he joined two other DJs running the legendary Soul & Funk club in the Rummer Cellar Bar in Bristol. A centrifugal musical figure in the city that gave us Massive Attack, Portishead and the WOMAD festival.
The Soul Professor has now decamped to Hamburg and is in huge demand spinning his collection of rare Funk 7inch vinyl in clubs throughout Germany. Visits back to the UK are few and far between these days and we’re thrilled we’ve managed to entice him to Rhythmtree as only Glastonbury, Tramline and WOMAD festivals have previously pried him away from Germany’s club scene. If you love to dance deep into the night Jill’s Woods are the place to be and The Soul Professor is the man you need.
