Over the past few years Essex born songwriter Beans on Toast has become something of a cult figure. He’s written and recorded 8 albums and toured the world playing just about every bar, club, venue, pub, festival, party and honky tonk you can think of and he’s loved every minute of it.
Knowing how, quite rightly, he’s especially popular on the Island following his previous Bestival appearances, we’ve been trying to get him to come to Rhythmtree for a few years now so we’re made up that this year it’s actually happening and he’ll be the final act on in the Didg Cafe on Saturday night.
He’s a hippy, a punk, a poet, a drunk, a die-hard romantic and an eternal optimist singing simple songs that tackle big issues. Political protest songs for the modern day and honest and open love songs that will make you laugh, but also make you think with no holds barred honest lyrics and quick wit.
The Beans on Toast live show is an unpredictable and always personal experience. A singer, storyteller and guitar player his self-deprecating quality is not something you often see, but it breaks down the barrier between musician and audience, creating a real sense of unity. We can’t think of a better way to finish our Saturday live music programme so make sure you join Mr Toast and us in the Didg for what promises to be a very special finale.
“Music brings people together in a way few things do, and live shows more so. But there’s something even more special about gigs with Beans on Toast.”
